Made using traditional maceration with pitted sloes to prolong the maceration process without the risk of it taking on a pitted flavor, resulting in a fruitier patxaran.
It is carefully crafted, and this is evident upon tasting, due to its smoothness and well-balanced fruity aromas. Its sweetness is truly pleasant. The contrast between the subtlety on the nose and the power at retronasal is surprising.
The alcohol is not noticeable, and the aniseed notes go unnoticed. It leaves a refreshing sensation.
A very long finish of bitter notes perfectly combined with the sweet notes that enhance the overall sensation of the liqueur, giving it elegance and personality.
Nestled in the Basque hills since 1831, Barañano family-run distillery has been crafting exceptional liqueurs for generations. Rooted in tradition and guided by time-honoured methods, Gaizka and Eneritz's work reflects a deep respect for local ingredients and artisanal techniques.
Each spirit — from their signature Patxaran to their rare barrel-aged vermouth — is produced in small batches, using recipes passed down and perfected over decades. The result is a range of liqueurs that capture the soul of the Basque Country: authentic, expressive, and crafted with quiet mastery.
