This is one of only 656 bottles of this exclusive vermouth aged in a barrel previously used to mature Islay whisky. Smoke and peat are the main aromas to recognize, and the use of this barrel has provided exceptional smoothness and solidity.

This vermouth, inspired by our great-great-grandfather's recipe from 1881, has undergone exhaustive scrutiny to ensure that the wood and vermouth achieve the level of harmony and balance desired by our experts. A unique, atypical vermouth, matured in a unique barrel.

Part of a batch of 576 bottles of the only barrel-aged patxaran. Starting with our Gaizka patxaran made with pitted sloes, we wanted to age this premium patxaran in barrels with wood toasting, in the traditional style.

The use of barrels gives the patxaran nuances of vanilla and caramel, providing an elegant yet complex result.

Sloe, vanilla, wood, and anise are some of the aromas that greet us. Once tasted, the unctuous impact of the texture makes us want to explore the patxaran, finding a clear presence of the freshness of the sloes with echoes of fresh wood, which contrast with the presence and sweetness of notes of anise, cherry, and vanilla.

This coffee liqueur presents an appealing leather-like brown colour with a medium intensity, showing hints of orange-brown at the edges.

It appears glossy, slightly viscous, and leaves marked tears when swirled in the glass.

On the nose, it reveals aromas of roasted coffee, with subtle smoky and toasty notes, alongside hints of tobacco, wood, caramel, toasted bread, and a delicate praline chocolate undertone.

On the palate, it is notably sweet with a pronounced alcoholic presence. It enters boldly and finishes with a soft bitterness, beautifully balanced by the sweetness, leaving a long and very pleasant aftertaste.

'Patxaran' is a traditional liqueur from the Basque Country that has been produced and drunk for centuries. It is produced by soaking sloe berries in distilled anis with coffee beans and vanilla added to flavour it. The result is rich, deep red liqueur that has an intense fruity and aniseed flavour.

Made using traditional maceration with pitted sloes to prolong the maceration process without the risk of it taking on a pitted flavor, resulting in a fruitier patxaran.

It is carefully crafted, and this is evident upon tasting, due to its smoothness and well-balanced fruity aromas. Its sweetness is truly pleasant. The contrast between the subtlety on the nose and the power at retronasal is surprising.

The alcohol is not noticeable, and the aniseed notes go unnoticed. It leaves a refreshing sensation.

A very long finish of bitter notes perfectly combined with the sweet notes that enhance the overall sensation of the liqueur, giving it elegance and personality.
